The Run Down Our Chronicles Hip-hop Review Atlanta's own Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino released his new album "Awaken, My Love" last weekend to shocking surprise. The multi-talented actor/comedian/ musical artist took a break from his critically successful TV show "Atlanta" currently on FX, to create an album like no other. He takes a chance by producing sounds compared to soul, blues, and jazz. Attention: This is not a Rap Album!!! If you are thinking he going to hit you with bars and weird transitions like in "Because the Internet" you're listening to the wrong album. Don't get me wrong, I love when Gambino spits out bars that make these new rappers look foolish; But it's good to know he's trying out different styles. There are some tracks that are replay worthy such as "Me and Your Momma", "Zombies", and "Redbone" but other than that, the rest of the album can be skipped. I'll give this album ✊🏾✊🏾out of five Black Fist for bringing soul back to mainstream, but would of like one or two gaudy rap tracks.
